Be sure to visit the Jasper County Historical Society between now and August 15 to enjoy the fantastic exhibit on Charles Halleck. The exhibit was created by Museum Curator Judy Kanne.
Halleck, a native of DeMotte, served 16 terms in the House of Representatives. He was Majority Leader from 1947-1949 and 1953-1955 and Minority Leader from 1959-1965.

The 23rd issue of Vintage Views is now available for purchase at the historical museum.
The cover pictures Nane Long Loy (in Junior Red Cross attire) and Ruth Harriet Eger McFall collecting for starving people in Belgium after World War I.
County Historian Judy Kanne’s article is titled “A Lady Named Nane Long Loy”. Other articles and photos relate to Morris Jacks’ store on wheels, J A Grant & Son Motor Freight, Hollis “Holly” Hayes, the Rensselaer Lions Club, and more.
Also included are a tribute to the 2014 state champion football team from Rensselaer and a reprint of an article about the Bomber name by Michael Campbell.
The cost is $10 plus $3.00 for postage if you want it mailed.
